Ian Doolittle
Ian is Head of the firm's Public Sector - Communities and Governance department. Ian is a specialist in public sector housing law. Over the last eighteen years he has led teams on a large number of housing stock transfers, including many of the major metropolitan ones. He is also an expert on arms length housing management companies, having advised on both the establishment of many ALMOs and their future development, at national and council level. He is advising extensively on local housing companies, for both 'pilot' councils and others.
He advises local authorities on housing options available to them for investment and other purposes. He also provides general advice to his LSVT and other housing association clients. He is currently advising on the council housing finance reform. His range of expertise has given him a highly specialised perspective on urban regeneration.
Ian is Head of the firm's Social Policy Legal Unit (SoPLU) and is editor of 'Housing and Regeneration' published by LexisNexis UK. He is at the forefront of many new policy and practice areas, including community land trusts and other community ownership models.
Ian is acknowledged as a Legal Expert and a Leader in the fields of Social Housing and Local Government in both the Legal Business: Legal Experts directory and Chambers and Partners' Guide to the Legal Profession.
