Trowers & Hamlins wins Law Firm of the Year
Trowers & Hamlins, the City and international law firm, has won the prestigious “Law Firm of the Year” award at the “The Lawyer Awards 2007”.
Trowers & Hamlins beat off stiff competition from Ashurst, Linklaters, Simmons and Simmons and Eversheds to win what is seen as the most glittering prize at the legal profession’s equivalent of the Oscars.
The award was made in recognition of the strengths of Trowers & Hamlins’ Corporate, Middle East, Real Estate and Social Housing practices.
The judges described Trowers & Hamlins’ performance in the Middle East as “barnstorming”, its finance practice as a “hidden jewel” and its social housing practice as having had a “stellar performance”.
Over the last five years Trowers & Hamlins has moved from being the 54th largest firm in the UK to the 42nd , increasing their turnover by 111% over the period to £68.1m. What makes their expansion particularly noteworthy is that they have managed it all by organic growth, without the need to takeover or merge with any other firms.
As well as winning The Law Firm of the Year Award Trowers & Hamlins were also:
- Short listed for Real Estate Team of the Year Award for their work on the US $1.5b Bahrain Bay construction project which is the first ever use of project partnering in the Middle East
- Short listed and commended for their community social affairs programme work with East Potential, who provide accommodation, training and education to 16-24 year olds within East London.
Jonathan Adlington, Senior Partner of Trowers & Hamlins comments: “What is particularly satisfying about this award is that is recognition of the strengths of Trowers & Hamlins as a whole, for the hard work and commitment of all our staff and partners.”
Trowers & Hamlins’ Middle East practice also won Finance Team of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2005, and are placed in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For 2007.
