Trowers & Hamlins ranked among the best places to work in the UK in Sunday Times poll

Trowers & Hamlins was commended by the judges for its relaxed but professional approach, team atmosphere, diversity policies, staff development and support of local community projects.

The law firm has had a significant year since the Sunday Times last compiled its rankings of UK workplaces winning a number of highly-coveted awards.

Trowers & Hamlins beat off fierce competition from the largest global law firms to scoop the highest accolade in the legal profession, the ‘Law Firm of the Year 2007’ from the Lawyer Magazine, in recognition of the quality of its work.

As well as winning ‘Law Firm of the Year 2007, Trowers & Hamlins was also:

  • Short listed for ‘Real Estate Team of the Year Award’ for its work on the US $1.5bn Bahrain Bay construction project which is the first ever use of project partnering in the Middle East
  • Short listed and commended for their community social affairs programme work with East Potential, who provide accommodation, training and education to 16-24 year olds within East London

The firm also grabbed the ‘Economic Regeneration Award’ at the Dragon Awards 2007 - The Lord Mayor's Awards for Corporate Community Involvement in London.

Additional plaudits were heaped on the firm by Vault.com, the world-leading employer information resource, which ranked Trowers & Hamlins number one among UK law firms on its Quality of Life index based on marks awarded by employees.

Jonathan Adlington, Senior Partner, Trowers & Hamlins, comments: “This acknowledgement by the Sunday Times is yet another boost for the firm in what has been a year of astonishing achievement, and just as importantly, a year in which the firm’s success has been recognised both by independent experts and its own staff.”

“It is extremely rare for a law firm to be commended both for its ground-breaking professional work and the quality of its working environment.”

Over the last five years Trowers & Hamlins has moved from being the 54th largest firm in the UK to the 38th, increasing its turnover by 111% over the period to £68.1 million.

Trowers & Hamlins is one of eleven law firms in the Best Companies to Work for highlighting the increased awareness amongst law firms of an employers responsibility.
