Our market leading Governance and Charities team is looking to increase its focus on charities work through the recruitment of an appropriately experienced solicitor – either at partner level or a senior associate who is looking to move up to partner level. We are looking for a candidate with at least five years' experience of charity law work who is able to act in a stand alone capacity and develop this practice area. Candidates should have experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and regulators (including in particular the Charity Commission). Work will include:
- Providing advice to registered and exempt charities (including registered social landlords) on governance, registration, regulatory and merger issues
- Providing advice to local authorities, private sector and voluntary sector bodies on a range of charity law and community ownership issues with particular emphasis on the governance arrangements
- Legal research
All our solicitors are encouraged to participate in marketing, but the successful candidate will be expected to take a particularly active role in initiatives such as the preparation and presentation of bids, article/bulletin writing, client events, and networking.
The successful candidate will be involved in the training and developments ensuring that work is compliant with Lexcel and IIP standards. This role is flexible with regards to hours, which we are happy to discuss.
